When I ejaculate my semen goes in instead of going out.

Question:

Hi, I am Jeremy, 60. When I ejaculate after having sexual intercourse or masturbation my semen doesn’t go out of my penis – it goes somewhere inside… What is wrong with me and what should I do?

Doctor’s answer:

Hi, Jeremy. Sorry to hear about your problem.
According to your symptom it seems that your sperm goes into your bladder instead of discharging outside through your penis. This health condition is known as retrograde, or backward ejaculation. This is also called dry orgasm as you still can reach climax but ejaculate very little semen or no semen at all. Although this condition is not harmful it can be the cause of infertility.

Backward ejaculation can be caused by certain medicines, surgery or other health conditions.

If it is caused by surgery or certain health conditions it should be treated by drugs, they can restore normal-way ejaculation.

If it is caused by any drugs you take – stopping them can be the good treatment option.

You should talk to your physician in order to determine the cause of the problem and to choose an appropriate treatment.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
