It takes me too long to ejaculate at my 70 – what can I do?

Hello. I am 75 years old male, still leading sexual life. Recently I noticed that my semen was of a brownish color. I’m concerned – can it be blood? Or any kind of dangerous symptom?

It also takes me too long to ejaculate – much longer than it used to at my 30s.

I have had enlarged prostate for the past 15 years. All of biopsies (8 total) turned out to be benign.

My overall health condition is very good, I feel no pain during urination, blood pressure is normal too.

I have had a few cases of prostatitis during past two decades.

Hello. Sorry to hear about your problem.

Brownish color of semen could be caused by either blood (as you have guessed yourself) or by infection.

Possible areas affected by infection include:

• the prostate gland
• the testicles
• the bladder
• the urethra
• the seminal vesicles

If you had prostate-gland biopsy recently it could be the cause of blood in semen which in turn causes brownish semen discoloration. It will disappear in 3-4 weeks after the biopsy.

Hematospermia may also cause brownish semen.

First of all I suggest you to have some tests done in order to determine the exact cause of this condition, at least prostate examination and urine tests should be done.

Regarding delayed ejaculation:
this is the condition opposite to premature ejaculation. There are many possible physical causes of delayed (retarder) ejaculation. Among them:

• prostate problems
• diabetes
• cancer
• surgery
• others

There are also psychological causes of delayed ejaculation. And it can be caused by any of them or by combination of any of them.

Nature of cause determines appropriate treatment. It could be prescription drugs, herbal remedies, vibrotherapy or electroejaculation.

You should consult your doctor for investigation.
