I noticed that my semen is yellowish – should I be worried?
Question:
Hello, I am Bill, 50 years old healthy male living in Berlin, Germany.
Recently I noticed that my semen was of a strange yellowish color. Is it normal condition or should I be worried?
Doctor’s answer:
Hello, Bill.
Usually semen discharged from urethra during ejaculation is an opalescent, viscous liquid of whitish-gray color. Still color of semen can vary, depending on numerous factors, including diet, general health condition, frequency of ejaculations, age, weight and others. Yellow color of the semen is absolutely normal and represents just a variation of common whitish-gray color. So there is nothing you should worry about.
Intake of vitamins or poly-vitamins can be the cause of yellow color of the semen as well. Stopping vitamins for a while can help, although there is no reason to be concerned in medical sense.
Some herbal natural supplements used for impotence or premature ejaculation treatment can also affect the color of the semen, but this is not the case with you as you say you have no serious medical conditions.
Hope I answered your question.
Thanks.
