Can anti-diabetic medication cause erectile dysfunction?
Question:
Hello, I am Kevin, 42 years old. I have been suffering from Diabetes for almost 15 years. Moreover, last year my doctor diagnosed me with high blood pressure. To control my diabetes and hypertension I take insulin injections 4 times a day.
I have also been taking Zestril 10mg once a day. Recently my doctor increased the dosage to 20mg. At the same time I started dating a woman. When we are having sex I have problems with maintaining my erection.
My question is: is the increase of the Zestril regular dosage making me impotent? Nothing else have changed in my live except the medication dosage. What should I do to overcome it? Please, help. Thank you.
Doctor’s answer:
Hello, Kevin. Thank you for your question.
Actually, male impotence can be caused by many factors. It can be due to your Diabetes. Some kind of medications can aslo lead to impotence, and Zestril (lisinoprinil) is one of them.
Your impotence can also be caused by psychological reason – your anxiety – as you are dating new woman and you can suffer from lack of confidence.
So you should pay a visit to your physician and have some certain tests done to determine the real cause of your impotence. Don’t worry – impotence is usually a manageable condition. There are many herbal ed remedies, also known as ‘natural Viagra substitutes’. They can fix your impotence without causing any adverse side effects at all!
